Big Striped Bass Invade San Joaquin River
Those guys on the West coast are apparently landing bigger striped bass than anglers on the East coast, with reports of striped bass running more than 20 pounds coming from the San Joaquin River in California. “Some large bass are in the mix because customers have come in to replace hooks that were straightened,” one tackle shop owner said. That’s a good problem to have.

Rain Drives Texas Striped Bass into Rivers
A 37-pound striper was caught from the bank of the Red River below Lake Texoma in Texas, following heavy rain. But Texas anglers are mostly catching smaller stripers. “The river is loaded with 4- to 7-pounders and we're catching and releasing quite a few 8- to 12-pound fish.”
